The East Carolina Pirates rolled past the Central Florida Knights in the first round of the Conference USA tournament, 75-60.
It wasn’t as easy as the score indicated, however, with the Pirates trailing by five points at halftime.
They finally got things going in the second half, holding Central Florida to just 21 points after the break.
Darrius Morrow lead the Pirates with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jamar Abrams added 15 before fouling out. ( Read More…)

The East Carolina Pirates could not keep up with the Maryland Terrapins in a 51-20 loss in the Military Bowl.
East Carolina couldn’t stay out of their own way, turning the ball over time and time again and giving Maryland easy scoring opportunities.
The Pirates went into halftime with just three points on the scoreboard, and by the time they got going, it was too late.
To their credit, the school brought a large number of fans to RFK stadium to cheer on their team. ( Read More…)

There is no denying the East Carolina Pirates can score with anybody. But keeping the opposition out of the end zone is a problem.
Despite losing four of its final five, East Carolina did enough to earn a berth in the Military Bowl. The Pirates will face Maryland on Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. ( Read More…)

The East Carolina Pirates used a hot start to eventually pull out a 33-27 upset of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
East Carolina scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 21-0 lead, but NC State responded and trailed by just three at halftime.
The second half saw both teams settle down defensively, and only nine points were scored between the two teams.
The game went to overtime, with Domonique Davis rushed for a one-year touchdown to give the Pirates the lead. ( Read More…)

The East Carolina Pirates look to continue their recent domination of Conference USA in 2010.
Last year the Pirates went 7-1 in their conference to win the East Division. It was also the best record out of any of the teams in the conference.
Out of conference, it was a much different story. The team went just 2-4, which is disappointing by their standards. ( Read More…)

The East Carolina Pirates come into the 2010 season carrying the banner as defending Conference USA champions. But replacing nine starters on defense and 15 overall will be the key to any repeat hopes.
ECU finished 9-5 last season and 7-1 in conference action, downing Houston in the C-USA championship game. The season ended with a 20-17 overtime loss to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl, a game in which the Pirates missed four field goals. ( Read More…)
